The 5 th Annual Oil and Gas Convention is organized by the Uganda Chamber of Mines and Petroleum in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development. The event has established itself as an effective business platform for developing and strengthening mutually beneficial partnerships among all stakeholders.
This year’s event is scheduled for 9th to 11th April 2019 at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort under the theme “2019 Decision Time: ” Countdown to Commercialization””. 2018 was a great year, which ushered in a number of achievements including but not limited to; the completion of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), which has been submitted to NEMA, signing off Project Framework Agreement for the Refinery project. 2019 should see the licensed oil companies taking the Final Investment Decision(FID) and selection for EPCs winners for Tilenga and Kingfisher projects. 2019 should also see the country launch the next licensing round. This year shall be a year like no other.
The country’s oil and gas sector has continued to expand and now covers new petroleum exploration, infrastructure development for producing the discovered petroleum (development), together with the designing and putting in place the infrastructure required to commercialize the petroleum to be produced (refining and pipelines). The event shall also highlight ongoing skills and capacity development efforts implemented by the sector’s strategic partners including the new Business Incubator. The convention will deliver a robust programme featuring diverse initiatives, activities, onsite supplier development engagements and presentations from global and local expert speakers to showcase our journey in the Oil & Gas sector serving all areas of the industry.
